Heading to Sarakiniko Beach is without a doubt one of the best things to do in Milos. It\u2019s themost famous beach on the island and is known for its crazy rock formations, vivid turquoise<\/span>waters, and spectacular views.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

While exploring Sarakiniko, you\u2019ll honestly feel like you\u2019ve stepped on the moon as youwander<\/span>at the distinctive white rock, huge hollows, and unique formations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Catacombs of Milos and the Ancient Theatre are located near the village of Tripti andare<\/span>just a 10-minute walk from each other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

To make the most of your time on your island I\u2019d recommend combining a visit to the twosites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The<\/span> Catacombs of Milos<\/span> were discovered in the 1800s and consist of three catacombs intotal.<\/span> Unfortunately, it\u2019s not possible to visit all of them but you can visit the Chamber of the<\/span>Presbyters (Elders) and the main chambers of catacomb A & B.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

After visiting the Catacombs, head to the Ancient Theatre which is just as impressive!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

While the port of Adamas (or Adamantas) is the biggest settlement on Milos, littlePlaka (a few kilometers to the north) is the island\u2019s capital. Inhabited since the early19th century, this is where Milos reveals its Cycladic character, withlittle<\/span>whitewashed houses and cobblestone alleyways.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Milos is full of scenic locations that are perfect for watching the sun go down, but nothingcan<\/span>compare to the views from Plaka Castle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The castle dates to Venetian times and is found on the second-highest point of the island. It\u2019ssplit into two separate sections; the lower section and the uphill section where noble familiesonce lived. The castle is charming during any time of day, but it will truly take your breathawayat sunset. From the top, you\u2019ll get panoramic views of Milos Bay, Plaka, and some of the many<\/span>beaches found on the island and the colors are superb!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Being an exclusively volcanic island, Milos is considered an open-air geology museumbymany. The volcanic activity altered the morphology of the island throughout the years and shapedit into its current form, with its famous caves, steep cliffs and impressive rock formations. Thesoil, rich in sulfur, iron, bentonite and various other types of minerals has been contributingtothelocal economy since ancient times. The best way to get a better understanding of the geologyandtopography of the island and find out about its long mining history is by participatingina<\/span><\/p>
